PROJECT
TSA: $3.6 million
McKenzie & Parma are proud to have played a pivotal role in the early stages of the new Fisher & Paykel Head Office development. This project, located on a significant site, involved a fast-paced and technically demanding earthworks phase that laid the foundation for both the main office building and an adjoining shed.
The earthworks were executed over a short duration, requiring precision and efficiency. The site was cut to subgrade for the main building, while the shed area demanded excavation down to basalt. Once exposed, the basalt was stabilized to ensure a solid and enduring base for construction.
One of the major challenges faced during this phase was the high level of asbestos removal required. Our team adhered to strict safety protocols and environmental standards to manage and mitigate the risks associated with asbestos, ensuring the site was safe for ongoing development.
Midway through the earthworks, the project encountered an unexpected delay due to an archaeological discovery. This required a temporary halt to operations while specialists assessed and preserved the findings. Although this caused a two-week delay, McKenzie & Parma worked closely with heritage authorities to ensure compliance and respect for the site's historical significance.
Despite the challenges, McKenzie & Parma delivered the earthworks with the high standards of professionalism and quality we’re known for.
